Thanks to the core technology of digital Positron Emission Tomography (PET), the detectors of digital PET are unconnected on the structure level, which means events are transported to the server independently and coincidence are selected on the software, without traditional coincidence circuit of PET. By the feature of digital PET, our team redesign the system structure of PET, developing a new digital PET research and development platform named Plug and Imaging (PnI). Base on the platform, we can build PET in different structures, by using modules with different performance, towards different objects and tasks.
The open architecture of digital PET imaging system ensure the flexibility, expansibility and reusability of the PET system, which makes the PET system not limited to specific detector design, photoelectric device and crystal. As result, all kinds of dedicated application and adaptable application of PET come true, spawning a serious of new PET system, such as Proton therapy monitoring PET and Helmet PET.
