In Shanghai Jiaotong Academic Ranking, HUST is among the top 8 in China and top 201 to 300 in the world. According to the US News ranking, HUST ranks the 282th worldwide. HUST has now more than 55,000 full-time students enrolled, among them, around 4049 are international students. And HUST also hosts around 6600 full-time faculty and staff members.

According to the ESI subject ranking released several days ago, 15 of research subjects are among the top 1 percent in the world. Among them, 3 are listed among the top 0.1 percent in the world, namely Engineering and Material Science and also Computer Science. The Computer Science is among top 0.09%, ranking the 3rd in China. Only Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University are ahead of HUST. And HUST ranked the 24th worldwide.

Digital PET Imaging Lab, the main organizer of Summer School, is dedicated to the scientific research and application demonstration of Positron Emission Tomography (PET). It is the headstream of digital PET and one of the world leading groups in PET research. Founded in 2001, PETLab@HUST is an intellectual destination that draws inspired scholars to “Visualize the invisible, Envision the future”. Focusing on digital PET instrumentation, 4 professors from China and Europe, 3 postdoctoral scholars, 33 graduate students, and around 10 college students are working on physics, information technologies, optoelectronics device technologies and engineering for PET, PET/CT, and PET/MRI imaging.
